Cape Town is fast becoming one the most bicycle friendly cities in the world. It recently opened a bike specific lane on one of it’s busiest roads, it host #moonlightmass where over 1000 cyclists meet up to ride by the light of the full moon to promote cycling and cycle safety in the city. Cape Town is also the host of the biggest timed cycle race in the world, the Cape Cycle Tour, as well as the Tour de France of mountain biking the Cape Epic.
It has countless mountain bike trails through the mountains of the Western Cape and Cape Town as well as beautiful sea side rides along the Tableview promenade or the Sea Point promenade.

- TableĀ Mountain: An iconic sight in Cape Town, Table Mountain has various mountain biking trails. The Deer Park route, which gives beautiful views of the city, harbour, and Table Mountain itself. It has singleĀ and jeep tracks for people of all skill levels.
- Jonkershoek Nature Reserve: Jonkershoek Nature Reserve is roughly an hour’s drive from Cape Town and has a network of mountain biking paths. The difficulty and length of these paths varies, providing possibilities for beginners to advanced riders. The reserve is well-known for its stunning fynbos vegetation and spectacular mountain scenery.
- Tokai Forest: Located on the slopes of the Constantiaberg Mountain, Tokai Forest offers a variety of mountain biking paths. The area is well-known for its pine plantations and stunning vistas of the Cape Peninsula. Tokai offers cross-country trails, downhill courses, and a skills park for riders of all skill levels.
- Klapmutskop Trail Network: Situated near Stellenbosch, the Klapmutskop Trail Network offers a variety of routes for all ability levels. The Simonsberg Conservancy Trail is a popular route that includes single tracks, jeep tracks, and numerous challenging sections. Beautiful views of the surrounding wineries, mountains, and fynbos vegetation may be enjoyed from the trails.
